The Department of Intelligence and Internal Protection (DIIP) is the specialized structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs which carries out intelligence and internal protection activities with the view to ensuring the public order as well as preventing and countering threats to national security concerning the missions, personnel and classified information within the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The RO21 Programme “Schengen Cooperation and Combating Cross-border and Organised Crime, including Trafficking and Itinerant Criminal Groups”, is funded by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2009-2014 (also known as “the Norway Grants”).

The general objective of RO21 Programme aims to increase citizen`s security through improving the effectiveness of the cooperation between the law enforcement authorities in the Schengen Member States, in fighting organized crime, including trafficking in human beings.

The Project „Strengthening Of Information Cycle Management In Fight Against The Organized Crime And Illegal Migration For Increasing The European Security” RO-21-MAI-DIPI-PDP-6 is funded by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2009-2014 through the RO21 Programme “Schengen Cooperation and Combating Cross-border and Organised Crime, including Trafficking and Itinerant Criminal Groups” and its main objective is strenghtening the technical capacity of DIIP in fighting against organized crime and illegal immigration in order to increase the citizens’ safety within EU and SCHENGEN area.

The Project RO-21-MAI-DIPI-PDP-6 contributes to the implementation of one of the fundamental objectives established, at Government level, for the field of Justice and Home Affairs aiming to „strengthen the police cooperation in order to fight cross border criminality” as well as „preventing and countering organized crime, (…), developing a strategy to prevent and fighting against crime, in which will set priorities and the role of the State authorities, (…) to combat this scourge”.
